The journey
The SoulFam invites youto Brazil.
Eleven days between Rio de Janeiro and Bahia, experiencing Brazil through culture, community, music, food and the different rhythms of life that shape each place.
We travel during Novembro Negro, at a time when Black culture, history and identity move further into focus across Brazil.
The journey moves with purpose, but never at one speed. Full days of exploration sit alongside beaches, shared meals, nights out and time to simply take in where you are.

Why November?
Novembro Negro.
November carries particular significance in Brazil.
Novembro Negro brings greater focus to Black history, culture and identity, and to the African heritage that continues to shape Brazilian life.
Our journey takes place from 6–16 November, moving between Rio de Janeiro and Salvador during this cultural moment. In Salvador, we arrive in a city home to the largest Black population outside Africa, while across the journey we experience different expressions of Afro-Brazilian culture, community and contemporary life.
We travel in the days leading towards Black Consciousness Day later in November. We are not travelling for one festival or one celebration. We are travelling at a time when the histories, identities and cultural expressions already central to this journey move further into focus.
The experience
Brazil in morethan one dimension.
Culture, community, music, landscape and breathing room are designed to work together – not compete for attention.

01
Novembro Negro
We travel through Brazil during Novembro Negro, a month when Black history, culture and identity move further into focus. In Salvador, we arrive in a city home to the largest Black population outside Africa, experiencing a place where African heritage continues to shape culture, identity and everyday life.

02
Community & connection
Move beyond Brazil’s most recognisable sights and spend time in neighbourhoods and communities that reveal different experiences of the cities we’re travelling through.

03
Rhythm as culture
Samba, music and nightlife aren’t simply entertainment around the edges of the trip. They’re part of the cultural expression, movement and social life we encounter along the way.

04
City, coast & nature
Brazil constantly changes register. Dense city streets give way to beaches, forest, mountains and water, creating a journey that moves between urban energy and the natural landscape.

05
Space to experience it
Not every moment needs to be programmed. Beach time, shared meals, evenings out and space to explore allow the journey to be experienced rather than simply completed.
The route
Rio → Bahia→ Rio
Begin with Rio’s landscape, coast and city life. Fly north-east into Salvador / Bahia for cultural depth, community and nature. Return to Rio for the final movement.

Common questions
The practical answers, in one place.
Direct answers to the questions most likely to shape your decision.
A deposit per traveller secures your place and is credited toward the total. It is not an additional charge. The remaining balance can be paid in one payment or several from your private Manage My Booking page, and is due in full by 14 October 2027.
No. Your deposit secures your place and opens your private Manage My Booking page. You can add each traveller’s information there in your own time, and we’ll share any deadlines. Once every traveller’s information is in, you can book your onboarding call.
A required Zoom call with the team, booked from your Manage My Booking page once every traveller’s information is complete. It’s a chance to ask questions, understand what to expect and make sure you have everything you need. One representative of each booking is enough to attend.
Three stays, in journey order: B&B HOTEL Rio Copacabana Posto 5 (Rio de Janeiro), Portobello Pituba Praia (Salvador) and Astoria Palace Hotel (Rio de Janeiro). Should a property ever need to change, we’ll seek a comparable alternative, as set out in the Trip Terms and Booking Conditions.
Yes. Shared accommodation is included as standard: two travellers share each room. If you’re travelling alone, we may pair you with another traveller, using same-gender matching. You can request a specific roommate and we’ll consider it, though we can’t guarantee it.
Couples sharing a room can have one bed. If you’d prefer two separate beds, a two-bed room can be arranged. Tell us your preference by emailing info@thesoulfam.net at any time before the trip.
Yes. A private-room upgrade is available for an additional charge per room, subject to availability. Request it when you secure your place: the cost is added to your agreed total and never changes your deposit. Private rooms are confirmed in the order bookings are paid in full, and if a request can’t be confirmed, its cost is removed from your balance.
International flights to and from Brazil are not included; you arrange and pay for them yourself. The required domestic flights within Brazil are included in your trip price, along with the transfers shown in the itinerary. Those flights are operated by third-party airlines, not by TheSoulFam; the Trip Terms and Booking Conditions explain how this works. Exact arrival and departure guidance will be shared before you book travel.
Approximately 2–3 meals per day are included, excluding alcohol. Snacks and drinks outside included meals, tips, personal spending and optional extras are paid for separately.
Travel insurance isn’t included and is strongly recommended, though it isn’t currently a condition of booking. Checking and meeting Brazil’s entry requirements is your responsibility, and visa or entry fees aren’t included in the trip price. General visa assistance is part of your preparation. If you’d rather we handle your visa application, add the optional paid visa service when you secure your place: it covers our service fee only, and the visa decision stays with the Brazilian authorities. You’ll add passport details during traveller onboarding.
Yes, at any time. Email info@thesoulfam.net. You never need to pay a deposit to talk to us.
If your plans change, contact us as soon as possible. Any cancellation, refund or outstanding payment is handled in line with the Trip Terms and Booking Conditions that apply to your booking.
